Winner Poker Player - News Detail

Tuesday, Sep 1, 2009 November Nine Player Odds

Once again we'll have to wait until November for the final table in World Series of Poker Main Event to begin. It gives the people behind WSOP time to squeeze as much out of their brand name as possible and the poker sites time to chase new endorsers. Meanwhile we can only analyze the odds and speculate who will take home this year's coveted bracelet.

When looking at the odds (from Ladbrokes) it's clear that Darvin Moon (11 to 4) is the favorite, which is not too surprising since he has almost the double amount of chips compared to Eric Buchman in second place.

On third place we find this final table's best player Phil Ivey (5 to 1). Although his chip stack is dwindling, the odds makers at Ladbrokes must think that he has a decent shot at taking home the 2009 Main Event title. They even think that his chance of winning is equal to Steven Begleiter who has three times as much in his stack.

So who should we bet on? Well, perhaps Buchman is a better play than Moon, and Shulman might even be a smarter wager than Ivey, or why not the long-shot Akenhead? But I leave that up to you to decide. Below we compare the players' odds, chip stacks, and previous tournament winnings. Make sure you take a look at the stats before you choose your winner.
